Industries are using more and more sophisticated and demanding processes and equipment to ensure quality production under the best possible conditions. Industrial facilities must have high-performance flooring suited to the manufacturing, handling, storage and distribution of products.
To enable these floors to withstand the great variety of stresses and constraints to which they are subjected, Eurovia provides a process which combines the qualities of flexible bituminous mixes with those of rigid cement concretes.
SALVIACIM is a semi-rigid surfacing for industrial flooring.
It consists of an open-graded bituminous hot mix in which the voids are filled with a cement slurry made up of mineral aggregates, synthetic resin and water.
The slurry is percolated through the entire thickness of the hot mix. The complete structure is a monolithic complex with the characteristics of both a bituminous mix - flexibility, absence of joints - and those of a hydraulic binder based material - mechanical strength, resistance to chemicals, light colour.
The usual SALVIACIM gradings are 0/10 mm and 0/14 mm. Average laying thickness is between 35 mm and 50 mm.
A patent has been filed for the Salviacim process.
SALVIACIM is a registered trademark.
SALVIACIM surface course is designed according to the substrate and the stresses to which the pavement will be subjected during operation. The thickness of the various layers is determined in accordance with a specific design method adapted to industrial taking into consideration the expected dynamic and static loadings.
SALVIACIM is generally laid on road base asphalt or high-modulus hot mix; it can also be applied over aggregate treated with hydraulic binder.
The open-graded hot mix is produced and laid with conventional road equipment. The slurry is made in a concrete batching plant or a self-propelled mixer at the construction site; it is percolated into the hot mix by vibration. The slurry can be batch-coloured.
Additional surface treatment with paints or synthetic resins can be applied if need be to provide colour, improved chemical resistance, increased dust resistance or roughness.
Mechanical properties
SALVIACIM has excellent shear and impact resistance as well as strong resistance to static shear failure and stresses generated by rolling loads.
Chemical resistance
SALVIACIM withstands the effects of numerous chemicals. The resistance to accidental spills of hydrocarbons can be increased by means of specific formulations.
The use of special cements in the slurry confers increased resistance to acid products.
SALVIACIM is an impermeable surface course.
Heat resistance
SALVIACIM can withstand major thermal shocks (-20°C to + 200°C). The technique is suitable for the construction of heated flooring; electrical wires are included in a base course treated with hydraulic binder.
The material is fire-proof and classed M0 in the French Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment fire resistance test.
Driving safety and comfort
SALVIACIM is a durable and jointless continuous surfacing which provides excellent safety for pneumatic forklift equipment. It has a good skid-resistant, comfortable and low driving noise surface.
HEAVY-DUTY FLOORING
SALVIACIM is used on surfaces subject to high static and dynamic mechanical and/or thermal stresses, both indoors and outdoors and in both new construction and renovation:
Over the last 40 years, Eurovia has covered approximately 70 million m2 of industrial and commercial flooring with SALVIACIM in all sectors and all over the world.
